I finished 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami this week. Wow, amazing book! It’s too soon to write a comprehensive review on it because I am still trying to wrap my head around it. It reminded me of Lost with all the mysteries. But in the end, the novel was simply a love story.
The epigraph to 1Q84 features a song that I have never heard before. Sung by Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald, it is fantastic:
“It’s a Barnum and Bailey world,
just as phony as it can be,
But it wouldn’t be make-believe
if you believed in me.”
-“It’s Only a Paper Moon” by Billy Rose and E.Y. Harburg
