DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES- A man allegedly disappeared “into thin air” here while walking on Main and 5th avenues Monday afternoon, authorities say.
The L.A.P.D. is withholding the man’s name due to “the peculiar circumstances of the case,” a spokesman said.
“We just had lunch and were walking to our car when all the sudden he was gone,” his wife said.
The L.A.P.D. was called to the scene at approximately 1:45 p.m.to find a melting ice cream cone at the spot where the man’s wife said he disappeared. She later confirmed that they had been eating ice cream while walking.
The L.A.P.D. then looked for video footage from surrounding businesses and traffic lights, a police officer said.
“Only one camera, from a near-by drug store, shows the couple at the moment of the disappearance. They’re walking and he just vanishes into thin air. It’s incredible,” said the officer, who requested to speak on anonymity.
“I wish I could do that,” he added.
