Remembering 2013

Looking back, I have a lot to be thankful for this year. I wanted to use the new year to thank God and remember my top 5 2013 memories:

1. The Daily Titan

Some of the best times of my life were spent up at College Park Room 670, the Daily Titan newsroom. I enjoyed spending late nights with the editorial staff, as well as working at copy desk and reporting on breaking news. Not to mention other things like Spring Concert, Batman Mondays, getting food at Del Taco or Honda-Ya at midnight, or just hanging out at the newsroom … The feels.

2. Graduating College

College went by so fast. It is still weird, seven months later, that I graduated in four years and it still feels like a blur. I learned a lot and have fond memories of Cal State Fullerton.

3. Getting a job at City News Service

While it is part time, I am thankful that I was able to find a job in the journalism industry, which is in a pretty tough spot right now. I am getting valuable experience now in learning how a wire service runs as well as getting an eye for how to cover news.

4. Doing video work at Related Grey

A recent wedding video I helped film and edit.

I am thankful that David taught me how to do video work and that Related Grey has cool supplies to work with. Filming weddings is great because I use my journalism foundation to tell a story through a video filmed from a couple’s wedding. I am thankful that I am now experienced in multimedia, from journalism to photography to videography and video editing. These are things I want to do in the future so I’m thankful I was able to get on-the-job experience despite not really even studying videography in college.

5. Friends at Devoted

I am thankful that Devoted, my church’s college group Bible study, is growing. I enjoy being part of the group and hopefully we can minister more to the college-age community in Fullerton in 2014.

To conclude:

Every year has high and low moments, and this year was no exception. But it’s in the past now and I want to just thank God for all that I have been given.

As King David said, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” (1 Chronicles 16:34)
